You're right, and Mea Culpa. I used your example as a general example of popular sentiment and I should have perhaps been less sensationalist in it's context. Incomplete software a is completely valid reason for not buying any device, as are objections to the corporations behavior.

Actually, as the "random twitter commenter", I can tell you that I won't be using WP7 because:

I have used it, and the UI metaphor infuriates me in different ways both aesthetically and functionally.

They are tying it to desktop software, and refusing SD cards. Both of which are stuff-ups up with which I shall not put, and these are deal-breakers. If I can't use it entirely without a desktop computer, I'm not interested.

It isn't finished yet. I wouldn't buy an iPhone until 4 because I didn't think they were complete. WP7 is a long way from being complete. Yet. Who knows, with Nokia's help they may even get there. (I still wouldn't buy an iPhone, but now it's because of Apple's behaviour, not their software or hardware).

Microsoft - not their quality, their business practices.

If you're going to quote me (even anonymously), please get the context right and spend the time to ask me about it.

This WP7/Nokia thing can be summed up thusly:

Microsoft: "We invented this car, but functionality such as intermittent wipers and rear-view mirrors are options that we continue to work towards implementing, and that may be available as a free upgrade later.."

I want you to tell me why I would buy a car that had square wheels. A car whose documentation and salespeople sold it as being "state of the art", and whose fanboy legions declared as "the best", and "good for" the company Microsoft bought (or subversively took over, as is the case), to get this Twentieth Century Car made. Tell me how badly I want that car, please.
